Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail Summer Solstice Walking Festival
Walk the stunning Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail on the Summer Solstice Weekendand enjoy the wild and mysterious Mayo landscape with scenery changes and spectacular views of Croagh Patrick along the way. This event is a fundraising project for Western Care Association (www.westerncare.com)
Day 1: Friday, June 20th
8.30am: (sharp) Collection at Meeting Point – Car Park beside Corley’s Pub Ballintubber, (oppositeBallintubber Abbey) Transport to starting point
9.00am: Registration Balla Community Centre Tea/Coffee Refreshments provided
09.30am: Commence Walk from Balla to Ballintubber (16 km) Grade – Moderate
Refreshment Stop: Clogher Heritage Cottage – Tea/Coffee sandwiches provided
15.00 to 17.00pm: Finish Day 1 and De -Register at Corleys Pub Ballintubber (opposite Ballintubber Abbey)
Day 2: Saturday, June 21st
08.30am: (sharp) Collection at Meeting Point – Aughagower Village Car Park opposite back of church Transport to Starting Point GPS:N 53.76181 – W 009.46271
09.00am: Registration at Ballintubber Community Centre Tea/Coffee
09.30am: Commence Walk from Ballintubber to Aughagower (25.5 km) Grade -Hard
Refreshment Stop: Aille Lake – Tea/Coffee sandwiches provided
16.00 to 18.00pm: Finish Day 1 and De -Register at Keane\’s Pub, Aghagower
20.00 Evening Barb-B-Que and Dance – Westport Country Lodge Hotel, Aghagower
Day 3: Sunday, June 22nd
08.30 am: (sharp) Collection Murrisk Car Park at the base of Croagh Patrick. Transport to Starting Point GPS: N 53.77984 – W 009.63974
09.00 am: Registration at Aughagower Community Centre, Tea/Coffee
09.30 am: Commence Walk from Aughagower to Murrisk (19km) Grade – Difficult
Refreshment Stop – Brackloon Wood – Tea/ Coffee sandwiches provided
16.00 to 18.00pm: Arrive at Murrisk. De-registration in Shed at back of Campbells Pub – Murrisk
Transport will be provided each morning to ferry Walkers from the Meeting point to the Starting point. This means that your personal transport will be at the end of your destination on arrival each day.
