Endurance Challenge 2068km – All Ireland Triathlon

Endurance Challenge 2068km, Ireland’s biggest ever endurance event series will take place throughout the island of Ireland in August 2014. The various events cater for all levels of fitness, and aim to raise an incredible €500,000 for Breakthrough Cancer Research.
Marathon 2 will take place in Westport, Co. Mayo, Thursday 21st August
Swim
The Endurance Challenge 2068 team will swim 120 kilometers of the River Shannon. This element of the triathlon is closed to members of the public but support is welcome.
The team will start their All-Ireland triathlon by swimming 120km of the River Shannon. They have taken it upon themselves to swim 120km of the longest river in Ireland and Great Britain. The Endurance Challenge team will spread the distance over 6 days, with each of them swimming 10k every day.
Cycle
The cycling challenge will take the team through every county in Ireland, covering in excess of 1780 km. This is the equivalent of over half of the distance coverd in the 2012 Tour De France. 4 cycle tours will take place in total of 350 cyclists are invited to join the team on each tour.
CYCLING EVENTS
All our cycling events are open to all levels and groups will be seeded according to ability. As these are all multi-day tours a reasonable level of fitness and preparation is required to enjoy the tour.
TOUR OF CONNACHT( 9th & 10th August – 2 days )
Galway – Sligo Town – Galway
Price: €50 non-refundable deposit plus a commitment to raise a further minimum of €250 in sponsorship.
TOUR OF ULSTER (11th, 12th and 13th August 2014 – 3 DAYS)
Armagh – Derry – Enniskillen – Armagh
Price: €75 non-refundable deposit plus a commitment to raise a further minimum of €300 in sponsorship.
TOUR OF LEINSTER (14th, 15th and 16th August 2014 – 3 DAYS)
Dublin – Kilkenny – Athlone – Dublin
Price: €75 non-refundable deposit plus a commitment to raise a further minimum of €300 in sponsorship.
TOUR OF MUNSTER (17th & 18th August 2014 – 2 DAYS)
Cork-Limerick-Cork
Price: €50 non-refundable deposit plus a commitment to raise a further minimum of €250 in sponsorship.
Run
The Endurance Challenge 2068 team will complete the triathlon with 4 consecutive marathons in the main cities of each province, in almost as many days. Each individual marathon is a distance of 26.2 miles or 42km, totally 168 km. Runners are invited to join the team at each marathon. Runners will be able to particpate in each of these marathons at marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k distances.
Four consecutive marathons will take place in each province, in almost as many Days. Each individual marathon is a distance of 42.195km or 26.385 miles, totalling 168.78km. Up to 1,000 runners are invited to join the team at each marathon.
Runners will be able to participate at marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km distances, and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
- Each run will take place in August and so may also suit those training for later races such as Dublin City Marathon.
- Run locations were selected to allow a unique setting and loop circuit allowing participants over all distances to enjoy the same route features.
Runners may complete any of the following distance :
- Full Marathon 42 km €80 entrance fee
- ½ Marathon 21km €50 entrance fee
- 10km €25 entrance fee
- 5km €20 entrance fee
