Ideal for singles, but also great craic for couples and groups, the New Years Bank Holiday Walking Weekend is led by one of Ireland’s best known walking guides Gerry Greensmyth  of Croagh Patrick Walking Tours. The intended walks require a certain level of fitness , but the sense of achievement as you enjoy the view from the mountain top, and later as you settle into one of Westport’s legendary pubs, will be second to none.

• Friday December 26^th – arrive in Westport and check into the accommodation of your choice.
• Saturday December 27^th – Mweelrea mountain. Connaught’s highest at 814m. Our ascent is from the townland of Dadreen where the land meets the wild Atlantic way. This route is not too difficult and will be well within the scope of moderately fit people.
• Time 5 hours, Distance 10k, Height Gain 820m
• Sunday December 28th^th – Leenane Mountain.
• We begin our hike from the village and after a 15 minute walk along the Western way we start our ascent of the mountain. The 360 views from the summit are a sight to behold. The reek to the North. The islands of Clare, Inishturk and Inish boffin on the wild atlantic way to the West. The splendour of the 12 bens to the South and the lakes of Corrib and Na Fuaithe to the East
• Time 5 Hours, Distance 12k, Height gain 700m. This walk can be wet and muddy in places.
• Departure time both days at 09.30am sharp.
• Pick up from the Octagon in the centre of town.
