Run For Rescue with Mayo Mountain Rescue

Run For Rescue Half Marathon is in aid of Mayo Mountain Rescue. The stunning course along the shores of Clew Bay runs right under the shadow of the Reek (Croagh Patrick).
Mayo Mountain Rescue are proud to Launch this years ‘Run 4 Rescue’. This year our event will continue to be a Half Marathon with the addition of a new 10km section. This will be the first of hopefully many 10km ‘Run for Rescue’ events. The Event is taking place on 8th September this year, and going on our numbers last year, is set to be another success. This year we are also using chip timing. All money raised to go towards equipment and training for Mountain Rescue in Mayo. We are currently finalising plans for this years event and have a number of runners already expressing an interest. Keep an eye on Facebook, and our website for further information.

The Mayo Mountain Rescue Team (MMRT) is a voluntary 112/999 rescue service, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, responding to those who find themselves lost and or injured in the mountains. Mayo Mountain Rescue Team is a 100% Voluntary Organisation. It is comprised of hillwalkers and mountaineers from all over Mayo and even further afield.

This event is a competitive race, as well as a family day out. It’s all about participation and raising much needed funds for our team. All proceeds go directly to MMRT to assist us in training and obtaning new equipment.
This event is open to all participants, young and old. There will be refreshments along the way, goodie bags and a race t-shirt available also.
