Westport’s annual Rolling Sun Book Festival is billed as ‘a quirky boutique festival that indulges bookworms and connoisseurs of music, song and poetry’.
This year’s star guests include Donal Ryan, Judi Curtin, Rosemary Smith, Ann Ingle, Colm O’Regan, Anne Griffin, Dr Sabine Brennan and Rick O’Shea, while the line-up will include launches, talks, workshops, live broadcasts, interviews, readings and more.
FRIDAY 15th November
Book Launch: ‘Heartfelt’

‘Heartfelt’, is a collection of Poems from Mary Heneghan Cardoen.
THURSDAY 21st November
Poetry Event: Theme Philosophy and Poetry
Venue: Tertulia Book Shop, The Quay

Understanding the wider role poetry plays in society. Presented by Lukasz Krzymon Philosopher, Little Rainbow Ireland and published poets Geraldine Mitchell and Marian Kilcoyne

The Rolling Sun Book Festival opening event is always a highlight and this year is no different. The incomparable Lise Hand will interview two feisty women, Rosemary Smith pioneer and icon of Irish motorsport and her biographer Ann Ingle, mother of journalist Roisín Ingle.
Add to that a delicious supper and music from festival favourites Coda, and it’s sure to be a night to remember.
Places are very limited so advance booking is essential.
SATURDAY 23rd November
Perspectives

Award-winning authors Donal Ryan and Anne Griffin talk to Rick O’Shea about writing from other perspectives and read from their recently published books.
On the Couch: Keeping Your Brain Active
Venue: Clew Bay Hotel

Claire Grady is joined on the couch by Sabina Brennan, psychologist, neuroscientist, resident brain-health expert on RTE’s The Today Show and ex-Fair City actor. Sabina will read from her best-selling book, ‘100 Days to a Younger Brain’ and give valuable advice on keeping your brain active.
Children’s Event: Lily at Lissadell
Venue: Sean Staunton Room, Town Hall Theatre
Time: 2.00pm

Award winning children’s author Judi Curtin will be talking about her new book, ‘Lily at Lissadell’, and what life was like for young girls in 1913, (including her grandmothers, both of whom worked as housemaids around that time.) Judi will also talk about how she did the research, and her visit to Lissadell House. She will do a short reading, and answer any questions.
SUNDAY 24th November
An afternoon with Colm O’Regan, author of ‘Ann Devine, Are you ready for your close up’
