Féile Cheoil ar Oileán Chliara/Traditional Festival on Clare Island 

Clare Island Comhaltas will host a Féile Cheoil on the Island on the weekend of the 29th-31st of August. The festivities begin on Friday night with a sit down concert in the Sailor’s Bar . On Saturday morning visitors and locals will get the chance to have some fun learning new musical skills at the various workshops covering Bodhrán and Tin Whistle , Accordion and Fiddle , Concertina and Singing.

Clare Island is the home to a wonderful sean nós tradition – our under 18’s dancers recently competed in the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Derry. Saturday afternoon there will be a lively seán nos dance workshop . Saturday night sees the Big Concert in the community centre followed by lively traditional music seisuins in both bars on the Island – if you’re lucky our very own All Ireland winning ballad singer Patrick O’ Toole might sing a song or two!

There is fun for all the family on Sunday afternoon with a Céilí Mór – a seisuin will follow. The Céilí will finish in time for the evening boats returning to the mainland. Information at www.clareisland.ieor 086 0267798/0876901876.  So go on take the Ferry from Roonagh!
