Up for a Challenge?

We certainly hope so! It’s for a very worthy cause, so why not? The challenge will be to cycle the 26 mile / 42km world famous Great Western Greenway – a picturesque off-road trail which traverses Ireland’s idyllic Atlantic coast. The traffic-free greenway follows the route of the renowned Westport to Achill railway, or so-called “Balfour Lines” which connected the western region between 1894 and 1937.

So why not get away for the day and take in the beauty of the West coast? You’ll experience dramatic views of Clew Bay, spectacular mountain ranges and pass through quaint, picturesque villages along the way. It’s all taking place on March 29th 2014. Think you’re up for the challenge?

So who’s it all for?

Well this challenge was set up to help the Cystic Fibrosis West team raise the much needed funds required to build a very specialised day care unit at Mayo General Hospital (MGH), specifically for people with Cystic Fibrosis (PWCF). This unit will comprise of 2 isolated en-suite bedrooms that will incorporate a positive and negative pressure airflow system, a treatment room, meeting room, kitchen area, laboratory and a gym for treatment, exercise and fitness testing. The target has moved from the approximate €1 million build to €1.3 millionafter tenders. So far they’ve raised €1.25 million. We need your help to reach this goal and get them to the finish line!
