La Tresca on Dramtour in Ireland – Traditional/Folk Music
February 26, 2015 - March 2, 2015

At the end of February 2015, the Italian trad/folk band LA TRESCA will bring their beautiful music to Ireland for the first time ever, celebrating their 15th anniversary together with a lot of Irish musicians and friends, so a big beautiful Dramtune gathering in the ‘Wild West’ of Ireland….county Mayo…
LA TRESCA was founded in the year 2000 and started off with a vibrant mix of Italian and Irish inspired traditional/folk music, over the years they also added some other music styles like Ska and Reggae.
Their initial musical energy can still be noticed in their extended repertoire although they’ve turned more and more towards the roots of Italian traditional music, also writing beautiful new songs and tunes within that traditional spirit.
After more than 400 concerts all over Italy and several parts of Europe, La Tresca will celebrate their 15th Anniversary visiting the northwestern Irish County of Mayo at the end of February 2015, beside some other celebrations and special concerts in their own country throughout 2015.
Beside bringing their wonderful Italian tunes and songs to Westport, Ballina and Achill Island, they also look forward to enjoy all the Irish songs & tunes they love so much, and to meet up with all the Irish musicians they’ve met over the years in Holland and Italy, during several Dramtune gatherings.
Their informal Irish mini-tour in acoustic version, will start in The Merry Monk in Ballina on Thursday night February 26, then on Friday night February 27 they’ll play in the town of Keel on Achill Island in The Annexe Inn, followed by three more nights in Westport town with concerts in McCarthy’s pub on Saturday night February 28, Matt Molloy’s on Sunday afternoon and at The Cobblers on Sunday night the first of march, their last Irish gig will be in McGings on Monday night the second of march.
LA TRESCA, meaning gathering or ‘Ceilidh’ in their dialect of La Tuscia, the region between the Umbrian city of Orvieto, the holy mount Amiata in the province of Siena and further south of the Lake of Bolsena in the province of Viterbo, can be regarded as one of the most appreciated bands in the italian traditional/folk scene.
Traditional music is making a remarkable come-back in Italy, also thanks to bands like La Tresca who kept believing in the beauty and power of traditional music…..
